SCAA triumphs in business awards
Perthshire's business community has honoured the work carried out by Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) by awarding the charity the inaugural Health and Wellbeing Award at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards 2019.
The annual awards recognise and reward the best in the business across a variety of highly competitive sectors and SCAA is thrilled to have lifted the event's newest accolade - sponsored by Blackhills Specialist Dental Clinic - after being shortlisted alongside two other leading businesses.
The judges unanimously voted SCAA their winner, stating:
"The judges were very impressed with this entry, not only because of the scale of the business operation, but also because of the way it exceeded all the criteria in the Health and Wellbeing category.
"SCAA is continually innovating and developing itself to meet the financial pressures of raising sufficient funding for each year of its life-saving service – and this has now doubled with the addition of a second helicopter.
"SCAA also tests and develops equipment and techniques which can then feed into the regular Scottish Ambulance Service, benefitting even more people.”
SCAA Chief Executive David Craig, who collected the award at the business showcase dinner, said it was "an honour" to receive the country's latest business accolade which focussed on the whole service - from fundraising to service delivery and patient care.
"This Health and Wellbeing award is a testament to the hard work of everyone at SCAA," he said.
"We're not just a charity or a life-saving service - we're also a business with all the challenges that brings in today's testing environment. This Star Award recognises the outstanding work carried out in every aspect of our business and our drive to sustain funding for this service which has proved a vital lifeline to communities in Perthshire and across the whole of Scotland."
