Mission Review

A little boy was recently flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary from a village near Turiff following a fall at his home. The youngster was accompanied on the flight by his mother and a SCAA teddy was deployed to comfort him on his onward journey through hospital care.

SCAA's Helimed 79 crew recently worked with colleagues from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and a Scottish Ambulance Service road crew at the scene of an accident in the hills near Gairloch. A woman sustained ankle injuries while walking on the hills and our air ambulance was able to land close to her and airlift her to hospital care in Inverness.

SCAA recently cemented its value to Scotland's remote island communities when it flew to the outlying Orkney island of Eday to airlift a cardiac patient to Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall. Although just a short distance, our air ambulance proved essential in ensuring the patient made it quickly and safely to hospital care.

A SCAA teddy was deployed to comfort a young girl injured by a horse in an accident near Lairg. SCAA's Helimed 79 air ambulance landed on a local football pitch with a specialist doctor-led team on board to rendezvous with a land ambulance carrying the youngster on the first part of her journey, before airlifting her to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

SCAA's Helimed 76 air ambulance was quickly on scene when a young boy was recently injured in a motocross accident at a track near Cardenden in Fife. The boy was airlifted to the Sick Children's Hospital at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh - just minutes away by air.

A heart attack patient required critical cardiac care after taking ill while walking on Cruden Bay beach recently. SCAA landed on the beach and airlifted the patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in just 20 minutes, saving a lengthy road journey.
