Mission Review

From our bases in Perth and Aberdeen, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance can reach 90% of the country's population within 25 minutes. We provide a vita lifeline to communities all over the country - offering expert paramedic care and rapid transfers to hospital. Here are just some of the emergency call outs we've responded to recently.

SCAA's Helimed 76 air ambulance was recently called to an emergency in Banchory involving a young boy who was choking on something he had swallowed. Our paramedics worked with land crew colleagues at the scene as the youngster recovered before he was taken to hospital by land ambulance for further checks.

SCAA recently landed on a farm track for quick access to a road traffic accident near Inverurie. Our air ambulance crew was first on scene at the one-vehicle accident, in which a man was injured when his car left the road. SCAA paramedics worked alongside Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues, before the injured man was taken to hospital.

A holidaymaker recently injured in a fall at a house in Strathearn was airlifted to trauma care at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee in just 15 minutes. SCAA's helicopter air ambulance was able to land close to the rural scene and ensure the injured man received advanced hospital care in the quickest possible time.

SCAA's Helimed 76 air ambulance flew to the island of Mull recently to airlift a woman who fractured her hip in a fall. Our crew had the injured woman safely in specialist care at the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley in the fastest possible time, negating the need for a lengthy and uncomfortable journey by road and ferry.

SCAA battled challenging weather to reach a woman injured in a fall at the Fairy Pools on Skye. Our helicopter air ambulance then airlifted the patient to specialist care at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

SCAA recently airlifted a specialist care team to the scene of a cycling accident near Banff. A man sustained injuries after falling from his bike on a remote country road and SCAA worked with land ambulance colleagues before flying the patient to advanced care at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - less than 20 minutes away by air.
