Mission Review

In May, 2023, SCAA is marking 10 years of saving lives in Scotland. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Scotland, we've responded to almost 5,000 emergency calls all over the country. Here are just some of the call outs we've responded to recently.

SCAA's Helimed 79 air ambulance recently landed at a park in Turriff to attend a medical emergency in the town. Our helicopter then airlifted an elderly patient to advanced care at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in less than 15 minutes - a journey that would take more than 45 minutes by road.

SCAA recently airlifted a doctor-led team to the scene of an accident near Inverbervie in under 10 minutes. A teenage boy who had sustained head injuries was assessed by the advanced care team before being taken to hospital.

SCAA was recently called to a medical emergency near Fraserburgh, where a woman required vital hospital care. The patient was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary within 15 minutes - a journey that would have taken over an hour by road.

SCAA paramedics were at the side of a woman who injured herself in a recent fall at a hotel on Deeside in just 10 minutes. SCAA worked alongside Scottish Ambulance Service road crew colleagues before the patient was taken to hospital.

SCAA's Helimed 76 air ambulance attended alongside other emergency services when a teenage boy was seriously injured in an accident at a motocross track in Fife recently. SCAA airlifted the patient, who had sustained head injuries after coming off his bike, to the Major Trauma Centre at Ninewells Hospital - just minutes away by air.

SCAA and a specialist doctor-led team flew to the aid of a motorcyclist injured in an accident near Alford recently. Our air ambulance then airlifted the injured man to the Major Trauma Centre in Aberdeen in around 10 minutes - saving vital time for the injured rider.
