Mission Review

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance is tasked through Scotland's 999 emergency response network and often works with other first responder organisations such as the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland to get people the help they need as quickly as possible.

A walker recently injured on the hills in Sheriffmuir was airlifted from the scene by SCAA to a waiting road ambulance further down the hill, assisted by Ochils Mountain Rescue Team and Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues. The patient was then taken by road to Forth Valley Hospital, freeing our air ambulance up for another emergency.

SCAA recently landed at a local park in Kelty where they were met by officers from Police Scotland and driven to the scene of an accident elsewhere in the town. A man who sustained leg injuries in an accident with his car was then driven by land ambulance back to our helicopter and airlifted in just minutes to specialist care at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh.

SCAA was recently called into action when a patient on Arran required an emergency transfer to mainland hospital care. Our air ambulance flew the man to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock in around 15 minutes, saving hours on a lengthy road and ferry journey.

A medical emergency in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute saw SCAA airlift a patient to vital care at the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Clydebank, in just 10 minutess, saving vital hours of road and ferry transport.

SCAA recently landed near the summit of Ben A'an where a hillwalker had sustained head and arm injuries in a fall after slipping on ice. The patient was then airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for advanced care.

SCAA recently flew to a car park in Killin after two pedestrians were injured in an accident. SCAA paramedics worked with colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland, attending to both people, before airlifting the more seriously injured patient to advanced care at Glasgow's Major Trauma Centre.
