Seven-year-old finishes 100 skips a day challenge at SCAA base

Seven-year-old Jack Rae has raised £700 for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) by completing a 100 skips a day challenge throughout June.

Jack skipped his way around well known landmarks in his hometown of Kirriemuir, as well as other locations in Angus and Perthshire. He capped off his month-long challenge by visiting the crew at SCAA’s Perth base to complete his final 100 skips.

Kathleen Rae, Jack’s mum, said: “I’m proud of Jack, he has been amazing – I’ve no idea where he has found all this energy!”

The concept for the challenge was sparked after Jack’s school – Northmuir Primary School – held a skipping workshop teaching pupils how to skip and do tricks.

Kathleen said: “He felt by completing 100 skips a day he was setting himself a personal challenge and helping others in the process.

“It was great to see him complete the challenge in front of the air ambulance, and he and his brother were delighted to see inside the helicopter.

“Jack would like to thank everyone who sponsored him and donated to SCAA. He is already thinking of what challenge he could do next year.

“He has really enjoyed completing the skipping challenge and now needs a new pair of trainers after wearing a hole in the soles!”

Jack said: “It was really fun, and I enjoyed skipping around different places and helping others.”
